The Viennese Waltz is the national dance of Austria. Many Austrian people celebrate the New Year with the famous Vienna Waltz of Johann Strauss - An der schönen blauen Donau (By the beautiful, blue Danube).

The dance classes and workshops reached more than eight thousand Chinese residents in total and took place at a number of selected venues in Beijing and Shanghai, including: the Temple of Heaven; Yu Yuan Tan Park; Beijing 798 Art District; National Centre for the Performing Arts; Renmin University; Beijing No. 4 High School; The Dandelion School; Beijing Youth Residency Community; Shanghai Times Square; Shanghai Paramount; Fudan University; and Shanghai International Studies University.

Many genres of dance, such as, Viennese waltz, cha cha cha, rumba and seven steps (an Austrian folk dance) were introduced and taught by the instructors, whose beautiful moves left the audience at each venue greatly satisfied.

As part of the celebration of the 40 Years Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between China and Austria, the "Austria dances with China – Let's Waltz!" brought another climax to the celebration.
