From May 7 to 18, 2025, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker will embark on a China tour under the baton of Chief Conductor Adam Fischer, with performances scheduled in Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, and Tianjin. As one of Germany’s largest and most prestigious symphony orchestras, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker traces its roots back to the 18th-century Court Orchestra of Düsseldorf. Over the centuries, musical giants such as Mendelssohn and Schumann have served as its music directors. The orchestra is a prominent presence at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, maintaining a rigorous annual performance schedule of around 250 concerts. Since the 2015/16 season, Adam Fischer has served as the orchestra’s Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor to the Tonhalle. In celebration of the 165th anniversary of Gustav Mahler’s birth, the orchestra will present a special performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9, a profound work of philosophical reflection from the composer’s later years. “The Mahler’s symphony showed that we are capable of the truthful symphonic sound.” Fischer has remarked. |
