In loving memory of Mr. Zezhou Wu, we are saddened to announce his passing on January 6, 2021 in Vienna at the age of 83. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and an extraordinary strength. Despite the pain, his desire to fight was inexhaustible and stayed in good spirits till the end surrounded by his family.

"I have spent half my life delving into the laws of material movement with scientific concepts; and half my life exploring the workings of human life with aesthetic appreciation, for which I am deeply fortunate." This is what Zezhou Wu said in a speech he gave to students and teachers at the Central Academy of Drama on the theme of 'Intercultural Communication'.

His life began in physics and ended in art.

Born in Tianjin in 1937, he studied in the Physics Department of Beijing Normal University in 1956 and stayed on to teach after graduation. Two years later, he was selected to study cryogenic physics and superconductivity theory at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After the advanced studies, he returned to Beijing Normal University to continue his teaching and participated in the research of "X-ray solid lattice diffraction at low temperature" and other national scientific research projects. In 1980, he was subsidized to study in Germany and was invited by the German "Walther-Meißner-Institute for Low Temperature Research” to take part in the study of "magnetic single charge detection under superconductivity" as a guest scientist. He was engaged in physics teaching and research at universities at home and abroad for 30 years, and he was proficient in Russian, English, German and Spanish. Later, due to coincidence and personal ambition, he entered the field of international art exchange for another 30 years.

As a visionary and passionate to music, Zezhou Wu, fulfilled his dream of founding Wu Promotion in 1991, the first private company in China dedicated to international cultural exchange achieving unprecedented milestones which heritage and enthusiasm will always be tribute. “Life is short and you need to love what you do, focus on your dreams and never give up on them”. - A powerful lesson he liked to share and we are blessed to learn from that he complied his entire life.

Half a lifetime of science, half a lifetime of art. Where the heart leads, the path is taken!

Zezhou Wu was a beloved father and grandfather who lived life to the fullest and cherished spending time with his family. He acquired many close friendships in his lifetime and will be missed by all who knew him.
