From November 25th to December 3rd, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra undertook its second large-scale China tour.
6 concerts, 3 cities, 10,000 audiences From November 25th to December 3rd, with the strong support of Tianjin Grand Theatre, Xinghai Concert Hall and Shanghai Oriental Art Center, under the baton of conductor Maestro Franz Welser-Möst, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra undertook its second large-scale China tour. During the nearly 10-day tour, VPO presented 6 top-quality concerts to nearly 10,000 audiences in 3 cities and realized its debut in Tianjin. We are looking forward to 2019, the third year of the exclusive touring partnership between Wu Promotion and Vienna Philharmonic. 11.26-11.27 Tianjin Grand Theatre During the tour Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra visited Tianjin for the very first time in its 176 years history, to the delight of all the local classical music fans. VPO’s two concerts in Tianjin represented a highlight in this year’s performance season at Tianjin Grand Theatre.
11.29-11.30 Xinghai Concert Hall Following last year’s debut, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra once again arrived in Guangzhou to perform as part of the “Xinghai Concert Hall 20th anniversary music season”. It is particularly worth mentioning that in the concert of November 30th VPO performed Bruckner’s entire Fifth Symphony in B flat major, the only program of Bruckner during its 2018 China tour. The outstanding concerts were praised as “Top Performance” by Guangzhou music fans.
12.1-12.2 Shanghai Oriental Art Center During its last China tour, VPO had also performed in Shanghai, and the orchestra returned again this year. Under the lead of the world-class conductor Maestro Franz Welser-Möst, with the contribution of pianist Lang Lang, VPO completed the fantastic China tour proving once again its distinguished level of skills.
Various activities showed another facet of VPO In the midst of a busy concert schedule, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra participated also in many activities. On invitation of the Tianjin Grand Theatre and Xinghai Concert Hall, VPO musicians took part in different kinds of sport games and master classes, substantially deepening the relationship between VPO and China during this process.
