Yundi and Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra interpreted the authentic Chopin

From 29 August to 5 September, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra worked with the world renowned pianist Yundi on their 2017 China Tour.

From 29 August to 5 September, under the support of Chongqing Grand Theatre, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts as well as Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra worked with the world renowned pianist Yundi on their 2017 China Tour. The tour marks a profound commemorative significance for the 100th anniversary of the independence of Poland. Many thanks to The Polish Embassy in Beijing and Adam Mickiewicz Institute for their generously support.

It is noteworthy that this time Yundi not only performed as a pianist, but also as a conductor for the first time in his career. Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra was the one that Yundi cooperated with when he received the first prize at the XIV Chopin Piano Competition. The music played by both the orchestra and the individual is recognized as the most authoritative interpretation of Chopin’s music. Joining the forces together, they fascinated and impressed the Chinese audiences with the tacit understanding of Chopin’s work.

The arrangement of the program followed the chronological order of composition. Along with the orchestra, the Chinese audience enjoyed an authentic interpretation of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor and Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor. At the end of the concert, Yundi encored the performance with the Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon to respond spectators’ prolonged applause. His teacher and respected piano educator, Mr. Zhaoyi Dan, attended the performance specially on this occasion.

For Yundi, the significant motivation for making constant efforts and new attempts is to enchant more young people with the charm of classical music. This intention resonated with the vision and mission of Wu Promotion, which facilitated the collaboration with Yundi. Fortunately, with full houses in five performances, it sees a proportion of younger audiences every night. Wu Promotion will make more efforts to demonstrate the fascination of art to the young generations.
