Twenty-six-year-old pianist Mr Giulio Biddau knows how to make the piano sing. Born in Cagliari (Italy) in 1985, Biddau has received excellent education and garnered many awards. He dazzles his audiences with brilliantly performed programmes; at times controlled, almost meditative, and at other times rich and full of energy. Elegant and expressive with a hint of humour and surprising maturity – there is no doubt Biddau has a bright future ahead of him.

Biddau performs in numerous national and international competitions: he won first prize at Les Nuits Pianistiques – Lauréats Spedidam International Piano Competition, in Aix-en-Provence; he won second prize at the Young Pianists International Competition in Stockholm; he received top honours at José Iturbi Piano Competition in Valencia; and at Casagrande Competition in Terni he won the Schumann Prize, the Audience Prize and was placed third overall.

Biddau began studying piano at the age of twelve with Professor Arlette Giangrandi Eggmann, and under her guidance he was awarded a First Class Honours Diploma with credit at the Conservatory in Cagliari. At the same time, he was attending the Ducale Academy in Genoa under the guidance of Maestro B Petrushansky. Biddau then went on to study in Paris with Jean-Marc Luisada at Ecole Normale, Alfred Cortot, where he achieved the Diplome Supérieur de Concertiste. In January 2007, he joined Perticaroli's class in Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome where recently he obtained the Diploma cum laude. He attended several master classes with A. Ciccolini, P. Badura- Skoda, J.Rouvier, M. Moretti and P L Aimard.

After making his first appearance with an orchestra in 2001, Biddau has since played with many prominent names, such as: Orchestra dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre Les Siècles, Orchestra del Palau de la Musica de Valencia, Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese. Biddau has played under conductors Lawrence Foster, François-Xavier Roth, Tan Dun, Carlo Rizzari and Max Bragado. He has also been broadcast by foreign radio and television stations, such as, Japanese NHK, France Musique and Rai Radio 3.

In Italy, among other concert engagements Biddau has performed: at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Rome; at Teatro Lirico, Cagliari; at the Festival Dino Ciani, Cortina; and for the William Walton Foundation, Ischia. Prominent performances in France include: Salle Cortot, Paris; Festival Pablo Casals, Prades; Festival Musicalta, Rouffach; Festival Piano en Valois, Angouleme; and Nancyphonies, Nancy and Pontoise. Other countries Biddau has visited include Austria, Slovenia, Sweden and Spain. Most recently, Biddau has performed at the Grand Theatre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence with the Orchestre Nationale de Montpellier with Maetro Lawrence Foster.

In March 2010, Biddau was the soloist in the World Premiere of The Banquet Piano Concerto of Tan Dun with the Orchestra e Coro di Santa Cecilia conducted by the composer. At present he is playing concerts in Europe, at the Festival Radio France, in Montpellier, at Festival Pablo Casals, in Prades and at Filarmonica Romana, in Rome.
