In the evening of January 11th, as a tradition, the Credit Suisse 2013 New Year concert opened its prelude in the enchanting melodies of Offenbach’s Overture: Orfeus. The Forbidden City Concert Hall again was flourished with beautiful movements, giving a precious opportunity to clients, partners and friends to get together and celebrate the New Year occasion.

Collaborating with the Hungarian conductor Gergely Kesselyák and the Slovakian soprano Ágnes Molnár, Beijing Symphony Orchestra presented a lively concert to the audience. Kesselyák directed the orchestra like a dancer and a magician, waving his baton and wriggling his body. The hearts of the audience soared involuntarily with the cheerful tune and Kesselyák’s movements. Besides the popular compositions by Strauss family, the concert also introduced several opera arias from Hungarian composer Kálmán and Pongrác. Excerpts of Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Fledermaus sung by the soprano Molnár contributed to the success of the whole event.

After the music of the last piece An der schönen blauen Donau quietened down, the audience burst into thunderous applaud. Some of them even shouted “bravo” and gave a standing ovation to express their appreciation for the concert. Then, the sonorous Radetsky March started to reverberate in the concert hall. The audience clapped their hands with the rhythm until the conclusion of the evening.
