From 26th January to 22nd February, Wu Promotion’s cultural project The Grand Chinese New Year Concert (CNYC) supported by the Chinese Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, the Bureau for Cultural Affairs of Chinese Ministry of the Culture of the People’s Republic of China, local Chinese Embassies and Chinese Consulates, China National Arts Fund, China Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film & TV brought out of the Chinese borders almost 300 musicians to 2 continents in 10 countries and 20 cities during 33 days. It has been the best evidence of the perfect understanding between Chinese and Western culture with an enthusiastic response everywhere it has been presented.

 Tour 1: the China National Traditional Orchestra,2018.1.26 - 2.8

From 26th January to-8th February, The China National Traditional Orchestra (CNTO), the first Chinese orchestra which cooperated with us 20 years ago on our Grand Chinese New Year Concert Tour, has joined us once again under the leadership of its President Qiang Xi to present in 4 countries a “Silk Road” program, which has been composed by Ying Jiang and has been conducted by both famous conductors Xieyang Chen and Sha Liu.

Performing in the Kultur-und Kongresszentrum Luzern, Tyrolean Festival Theatre Erl, Brucknerhaus Linz,Deutsches Theater München, Joseph Keilberth Saal,Palace of Arts in Budapest, Wiesbaden Hessisches Staatstheater, these 7 concerts attracted nearly 10,000 visitors and received strong support and attention from regional Chinese Embassies and Chinese General Consulates.

The traditional Chinese sounds of CNTO impressed 20 years ago the Western audience and these new concerts have undoubtedly manifested the significant development process of the Chinese traditional music abroad. We are still committed to spread the knowledge of the Chinese traditional culture.

Tour 2: The Chinese Orchestra of the National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, 2018.1.31 - 02.08

The Chinese Traditional Orchestra of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater and Wu Promotion have celebrated their 3rd cooperation presenting in Central Asia the "Silk Road" tour. The president Cheng Tao leaded the whole orchestra with the support of Europe and Asia Department of the Ministry of culture and China National Arts Fund,These concerts have taken place at the Astana Congress Hall Fiharmonia in Kazakhstan, the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory of Tajikistan, Opera Ballet Theater in Dushanbe, Gissar Concert,a nd Alisher Navoï in Tashkent ,Uzbekistan, and were warmly welcomed by local audiences.

Discovering different countries along the "Silk Road" with music as a way of communication is an essential target for CNYC project to expand the multi-direction cultural exchange. Following the first visit in 2017, under the strategic background of "One Belt, One Road", The Chinese Traditional Orchestra of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater has kept the friendship thanks to the Chinese traditional music with countries that belong to the Silk Road.

Tour 3: the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, 2018.02.06 - 02.22

From February 6 to 22, the first large-scale modern Chinese tradictional orchestra, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, conducted the closing tour of the 21st Grand Chinese New Year Concert
The president Xiaoci Luo and famous conductor Muhai Tang headed the orchestra in the Barbican Centre of London, Philharmonie de Paris, Bozar in Brussels and the Germans Philharmonie Essen, Berliner Philharmonie, Theater Bonn, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and Gut Varrel in Stuhr.

In order to suit the European audience’s music appreciation, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra designed a special program for the tour, “Sounds between Moon and Sea,” based on an ensemble form, was polished to become a large-scale orchestra version, full of contemporary tones and international expressions that reflected perfectly the overall strength of the orchestra and the development of the Chinese National Orchestras.

It deserves to be mentioned that the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra has performed on top-level music halls during this tour as a Chinese National Orchestra, as the prestigious Philharmonie de Paris which concert was globally live-broadcasted through Medici.tv, the largest online music platform, reaching more than 100,000 views in 68 countries.
