China Philharmonic Orchestra, the leading symphony orchestra in China, has just finalized its 2017 Asia tour successfully. In one week, under the baton of its Artistic Director, world-famous conductor Mr. Long Yu, the orchestra played in China and Japan, performing in Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall, Tokyo Suntory Concert Hall and Taipei National Theater & Concert hall, offering three fantastic concerts for nearly 10 thousand Asian listeners. This tour meant the eighth cooperation between Wu Promotion and CPO, and a high-level cultural exchange event between Chinese national art companies and neighbour countries/regions.

The tour programme contained classical works by remarkable composers like Camille Saint-Saëns’s Violin Concerto no. 3 in B minor, op.58, Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5 in D minor, Op. 47 and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphonie Nr. 6 h-moll, Op. 74, 'Pathétique', as well as Chinese composer Mr. Ye Zou’s (CPO’s composer-in-residence) rearranged version of Richard Strauss’s At Sunset from "Four Last Songs", demonstrating CPO’s capability and unique style. 12-year-old Paloma So delighted the audience with her violin concerto.

On 28 November, CPO came back to the Japanese stage after two years; its performance in Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall received a four-star rating on famous music critic website bachtrack.com. On 30 November, the orchestra presented a wonderful concert in Tokyo Suntory Concert Hall, Maestro Charles Dutoit and his wife, Mr. Yonghua Cheng, Ambassador of China to Japan and other important figures attended to this concert. On 2 December, CPO visited Taiwan after 16 years, expressing their regards and good wishes to the Taiwanese audience with their programme. After several rounds of applause, the orchestra played “Liang Xiao” as the encore, the famous traditional Chinese music piece by Mr. Tianhua Liue, putting a perfect ending to this Asia Tour.

What is worth mentioning is that this Asian tour with China Philharmonic Orchestra is a new breakthrough for Wu Promotion’s overseas tour markets. After touring in Europe, South America, North America, Australia and Siberia, Wu brought CPO back to Japan, the most mature classical music market in Asia.
