Mr Denis Zhdanov is a talented young concert pianist from Ukraine. His recent victory of first prize at the 56th International Maria Canals Piano Competition has thrown him into the spotlight and he is currently receiving many international engagements.

Born in Ukraine, in 1988, Zhdanov studies at the Imola International Piano Academy (Incontri col Maestro) under the tutelage of Professor Leonid Margarius and the National Music Academy of Ukraine, with Professor Borys. Zhdanov started taking his first piano lessons with V Danilova at the age of nine in his native city, Chernigov. Later, at the age of fifteen he moved to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and continued his studies in Kiev Lysenko Special Music School with Professor T Abayeva Fedorov.

Zdhanov's first debut recital in Lodz, 2007, brought huge appreciation from the audience and critics. Following highlights include a performance of F. Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 as a special commemoration of the 160th anniversary of F. Chopin's death; and a recital on the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth on March 1, 2010. Zhdanov has performed with the Valles Symphony Orchestra in Spain, Pomeranian Symphony Orchestra in Bydgoszcz, the Ukrainian TV and Radio Orchestra, Polish Camerata, Nova Amadeus Chamber Orchestra in Rome, the Georgian National Symphony, and the Simfonia Iuventus Orchestra in Warsaw.

Denis Zhdanov's engagements for concert seasons 2011 and 2012 include: recitals and appearances with orchestras in Italy, Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and France; a concert tour in China; and recording a CD with the Naxos label.
