Camiel Boomsma's Wagner journey has been highly praised worldwide. In 2013 he made a daring album debut with unknown piano transcriptions and surprised press and public with his deep understanding of Wagner's music. His recordings of Transcriptions for piano and Porazzi for Etcetera Records, received many rave reviews in BBC Music magazine (5 stars), Diapason (4 stars), national newspapers like Trouw, NRC and De Volkskrant, Luister Magazine, Classica and many more.

For his latest album Musings, released on Challenge Records International, he has been hailed for his highly poetical and imaginative playing and was compared with Lupu, Pires and Marc-André Hamelin. Leading Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant wrote: ''Boomsma's fingers have a velvet touch''. Pizzicato gave the highest possible rating stating that ''these are incredible Chopin performances'' and ''When Camiel Boomsma starts his CD with Nocturne Op.9 No.1, one is immediately overwhelmed by his extremely fine and nuanced playing''.
