Tour Dates: 2 Jun - 14 Jun, 2010 “The audience was held captive by the beauty of the performance from the moment the first note rang …A performance of international value!” Vanessa Mollard – violin About The Zodiac Trio The young clarinet-violin-piano ensemble has been welcomed on many leading stages throughout the US, Europe and Japan. Representing three different nations – Japan, Russia and France – the Zodiac Trio met in New York in 2005. Since its formation, The Zodiac Trio has been awarded prizes at a number of national and international competitions such as the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, FNAPEC Ensemble Competition (Paris), International Chamber Music Competition of Duchi D’Aqcuaviva (Italy), Val Tidone International Music Competition (Italy), the Cziffra Foundation (France), Joyce Dutka Foundation for the Arts (New York), International Peninsula Young Artist Festival in California and the ProMusica Ensemble Competition (France), among others. The young ensemble has also received a Recording Grant and Commission Grant from Co-Op press, and is laureate of the 6th International Osaka Chamber Music Competition in Japan. Individually and collectively, they have performed throughout the United States, South America, Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, China and Japan. As soloists, members of the Zodiac Trio have appeared with the Gent Symphony Orchestra, Geneva Symphony, Marseille Symphony Orchestra, Cannes Philharmonic Orchestra, Couer d’Alene Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Monte Carlo Philharmonic, etc., collaborating with such legendary musicians as Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez, Paquito D’Rivera, Kurt Mazur, and many others. Performing in many of the leading halls such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Merkin Hall, Bellas Artes de Mexico, Boston Symphony Hall and the Acropolis in Nice, France, they have appeared multiple times on WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase, including live broadcasts on National Public Radio, and toured the South of France sponsored by the General Council, where the Nice-Matin wrote: “The prestigious level of the performances… foreshadowed their great success in the future…”
Strong advocates of new music, the trio has commissioned new works in order to expand the clarinet-violin-piano trio repertoire, and strive to serve as a platform of exposure for up-and coming composers. Their debut commercial recording, that received nation-wide airplay as well as critical acclaim, included two works written for the ensemble. Currently the Zodiac Trio has a number of projects in the works with up-and-coming composers both in the United States and France, bridging the two countries and fueling an exciting cultural exchange. Aside from trios, the young ensembles often offer sonatas and solo works to bring a large variety to its audiences in the scope of a single concert. In 2007, the Zodiac Trio made Paris their headquarters, where they are on the artist roster of the Cziffra Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting Europe’s top young artists. The young ensemble also enjoys support from Culture France, where they have been selected to receive sponsorship to represent France at international competitions.
Vanessa Mollard Vanessa Mollard has appeared as soloist with the Gent Symphony Orchestra, Geneva Philharmonic, Marseille Symphony Orchestra and the Monte-Carlo Symphony, and has worked with Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostropovich, Kurt Mazur and Jean-Claude Casadesus. As a pioneer of new music, Ms. Mollard has collaborated with renowned composers Nicolas Bacri and Laurent Petigirard, whose compositions she premiered. A recipient of the Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation sponsorship, she has participated in master classes with prestigious teachers such as Olivier Charlier, Patrice Fontanarosa, Gerard Jarry, Roland Daugareil and Ivry Gitlis. Ms. Mollard holds a Diploma from the Royal Superior Conservatory of Gent, a First Prize from the Marseille Conservatory, which she obtained at the age of sixteen under the tutelage of Pierre Hommage, a Bachelor Degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she was a pupil of Patinka Kopec and a Performer Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington where she studied with the legendary Franco Gulli and Emile Naumoff, last student of Nadia Boulanger.
Kliment Krylovskiy "Kliment Krylovskiy played with easy facility, a vibrant tone, and radiated lots of expressiveness and exuberance" states the New York Concert Review of the Russian born clarinetist. Mr. Krylovskiy has given recitals throughout the US, France, England and Russia and has had his performances broadcast on New York’s WQXR Radio, CNN and WPR, among other, including a live broadcast on KBPX in WA. A top-prize laureate of competitions among which are the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble Young Artist Competition and the Couer de Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition, Mr. Krylovskiy is a recipient of the Harriet Hale Whoolley Award that carries a 10-month residency in Paris. He has worked the Prizm Players, the celebrated new music ensemble TACTUS, Paquito D'Rivera and currently serves as the assistant principal of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas with which he toured extensively performing in renowned venues such as the Kennedy Center, Belles Artes (Mexico), Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Meyerson Hall (Dallas, TX). His solo appearances include the Couer D'Alene Symphony, Kingston Philharmonic and the Performing Arts Institute Jazz ensemble. Mr. Krylovskiy has studied with Eli Eban at Indiana University in Bloomington and David Krakauer at the Manhattan School of Music. He is currently a student of Michel Letheic, proffesor at the Conservetoire National Superior de Musique in Paris, and of the Ysaye Quartet's Superior Chamber Music course.
Riko Higuma A versatile musician, Riko Higuma is a highly sought-after piano collaborator and a sensitive chamber musician, performing with the world’s leading artists throughout the United States, Europe, Russia and Japan. Giving her first solo recital at an early age at the Teatro San Martin in Buenos Aires, the Japanese-born pianist was a top-prize winner at the Jacob Flier International Piano Competition and the Santa Fe International Piano Competition. Ms. Higuma has participated in numerous music festivals around the world, including the Nagano-Aspen Music Festival and the LaJolla Music Society Summerfest in California, where her live solo performance was broadcast on NPR’s Performance Today. Notably, she was one of the Young Artists for the Van Cliburn Piano Institute in Fort Worth, where she appeared with the Fort Worth Symphony under Edward Browne. Ms. Higuma’s collaborations on the recital and concert stage have included distinguished artists such as Albert Markov, Paul Cohen, Neil Rosenshein and Aaron Rosand. She has also working in a chamber music setting with Cho-Liang Lin, Alan Gilbert, Charles Curtis, Steven Tanenbom, Jorge Bosso, Dora Schwarzberg and Timothy Eddy, among others. For the past three years, she has been a regular participant of the International Academy of Music in Italy and the Summit Music Festival in New York, where she performed with the legendary violinist Aaron Rosand. Ms. Higuma is currently engaged as a staff vocal accompanist at the Manhattan School of Music, from which she holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees obtained under the tutelage of Phillip Kawin.

Highlights of past seasons include the Acropolis in Nice, France, Walter Bruno Auditorium at Lincoln Center, French festivals Musique a Flaine, Estival de St. Jeannet, and Val D’Isere, Izumi Hall in Osaka, Japan, and Teatro Casale Monferato as well as the Teatro de Atri in Italy. Notably, the trio continues to collaborate with Yovan Markovich, cellist of the famed Ysaÿe Quartet, in performances of Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. Future engagements planned for the upcoming season include Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music, Preston Hall in Chicago, Merkin Hall in New York, Mount Allison University in Canada, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Society, Pro-Musica Festival in France, the Louvre Auditorium in Paris, as well as an extensive tour of China, among others.
