Daniel Ligorio is considered by critics and audience as one of the most promising young pianists on the Spanish national scene. He started his career from the Royal College of Music with winning the most important competitions, under the education of the famous International pianists Yonty Solomon, Maria Curtzio and Sulamita Aronovsky. He has given solo recitals as well as played with orchestras in the most prestigious halls and festivals in the country gaining great critical and public success. It worth emphasizing that the words of the famous composer Xavier Montsalvatge, “The Art of Daniel Ligorio piano does not deceive, it is above all, authentic”, in a concert at the National Auditorium with the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, or the opinion expressed by Xavier Cester, a music critic: “Since the unforgettable Claudio Arrau´s visit there has not been heard in Barcelona a piano emperor equally extraordinary“, referring to Ligorio’s interpretation of Beethoven’s Concerto No. 5 in the Palau de la Música where he was accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia.

He has taken part in several important projects such as the recording of the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Naxos label, the international premiere of the Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra Juventus by Anton Garcia Abril initiating the Fiftieth Anniversary of Musical Youth of Spain, the recording of the Complete Piano Works by Manuel de Falla, the complete Piano Trios by Turina interpreted by Daniel Ligorio with The Trio Arriaga, and a monographic album on the Piano Works by George Gershwin with Warner Music.

The awards which Daniel Ligorio has gained as a pianist and member of several chamber groups have opened him the doors to major concert tours in Europe and in America, among which includes, at a national level, awards such as The National Youth Music Competition of Spain, The Infanta Cristina, The Yamaha Foundation, and at the international level, The Beethoven Piano Kendall Taylor Prize, The Quilter piano competition, The Hopkinson Gold Medal, Sydney & Peggy Shimmin Piano Prize, The International Tournament Competition after being selected as Best Spanish Chamber Music Group, and the First Prize in the Gaetano Zinnetti Competition in Verona.

He has worked with the Brodsky Quartet, the Gewendhause Quartet from Leipzig, The Prague Quartet, The Pezze Italiano Quartet, conductors such as Marcello Biotti, Robert King, Josep Pons, and the country’s most prestigious orchestras such as La Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla, La Orquesta Sinfónica de Malaga, la Orquesta sinfónica de Cordoba, la Orquesta Pablo Sarasate de Pamplona, La Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, La Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, La Orquesta Sinfónica de Murcia, La Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura and La Orquesta Sinfonica de la Gulbenkien de Lisboa.

It is important to emphasize his collaboration with the director Ventura Pons as musical advisor and author of the piano recordings for Pons’ film ‘The Food of Love’ and his appearance in the film “The Silence before Bach” from the director Pere Portabella. Other highlights includes Daniel Ligorio’s recording of the Thomas Breton trios and the quintets by Conrado del Campo released with Naxos Label, and a concert tour promoting his album with the recordings of the Complete Piano Works by Maestro Manuel de Falla.
