Born in 1989, Juan Barahona started his piano studies at the age of six in Oviedo (Asturias, Spain). He attended the Reina Sofia Music School in Madrid, Spain, from 2008 to 2013, under the guidance of piano professor Galina Eguiazarova, chamber music professor Marta Gulyas and the support and advice of Maestro Dimitri Bashkirov. In 2010 and 2012 he was awarded the “Outstanding Piano Student Award” given by Her Majesty the Queen of Spain. He also received the “Outstanding Chamber Music Group Award” in 2011, as member of the “Albeniz de Prosegur” Piano Quintet.

From 2013 to 2016 he attended the Royal College of Music in London, studying with professor Dmitri Alexeev, where he completed a "Master of Performance" and an "Artist Diploma", both awarded with distinctions.

At the moment, he is a Postgraduate Student at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna, in the class of professor Lilya Zilberstein. At the same time he holds the position of Professor Accompanist in the viola class of Nobuko Imai and in the bassoon class of Gustavo Núñez at "Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía" in Madrid.

He has performed with several orchestras in Europe and South America and offered recitals and chamber music concerts in Spain (including Madrid's National Auditorium and Barcelona's Palau de la Música), United Kingdom (Wigmore Hall), Romania (Romanian Atheneum), Moldova, Ecuador, Jordan, Germany, France and Austria.

He has received several prizes in competitions such as “Ciutat de Carlet”, Barcelona Piano Competition and Paper de Musica. He has attended master classes with professors: Dmitri Bashkirov, Zoltan Kocsis, Menahem Pressler, Emanuel Ax, Ferenc Rados, Eldar Nebolsin, Mikhail Voskresensky, Pavel Gililov, Gunther Pichler, Naum Grubert, etc.

He is regularly invited to different festivals, the main ones being: Pommersfelden Collegium-Musicum, where he made several recordings to Bayerische-Rundfunks; “Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander” where he had the opportunity to play chamber music with the famous cellist Ivan Monighetti; or Salzburg's Mozarteum Sommerakademie, where he was invited as “Model-Student” of Maestro Dimitri Bashkirov.
