Following its first collaboration with Wu Promotion in 2015, Saint Petersburg Eifman Ballet performed the unique modern psychological ballet ‘Rodin’ and ‘Anna Karenina’ in Shanghai Oriental Art Center and National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing from 7 to 16 September. Since 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of St. Petersburg Eifman Ballet, the 100th anniversary of sculptor Rodin’s death as well as the 140th anniversary of the publication of literature classic ‘Anna Karenina’, the tour has a special significance.

From 7 to 10 September, Eifman Ballet performed two representative works, Anna Karenina and Rodin, on Shanghai Oriental Art Center, opening Shanghai Oriental Art Center 2017/18 Season. With the huge success of Eifman’s China Tour in 2015, the ballet Anna Karenina was already famous to the public, while Rodin has been performed in China for the first time. After the fabulous debut of Rodin on 7 September evening, one of the loyal fans of Eifman showed his affection to the troupe with his DIY t-shirts, which impressed the company deeply.

Eifman Ballet arrived in Beijing on 11 September and performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in the following week, opening the annual Dance festival of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The performances enchanted numerous spectators and presented full houses every night. Dr. Andrey Denisov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of China, attended the performance on 16 September night and congratulated the group.

Wu Promotion also cooperated with Hefeng Art Foundation, providing opportunities for rural area students to enjoy the show free of charge. Beijing Hefeng Art Foundation is the first non-government funded foundation in China with a mission of art education, popularization and promotion. As the Council Member of Hefeng Art Foundation, Mr. Jiatong Wu, the General Manager of Wu Promotion, has always focused on the artistic development of youth.
